Tales From Camp Lure - December 2005 |
|
Back in October I brought the whole band out to Havana in New Hope, PA -- what a wonderful evening it was. Jim and Jane Faraco are the owners of the place and happen to be great friends and two of my favorite people on the planet. The room is a nightclub, candle lit and intimate yet roomy enough to get it on. So that’s what we did. I was put up at a great B & B called “Porches.” John and Billy, the owners, are also good friends and the accommodations were high style. The classiest joint you could ever want to lay back in. You fall into a soft bed surrounded by fine art and antiques. You float in comfort and luxury. Kick off your boots, relax. Yeah ... thanks John, thanks Billy and all your staff. In the meantime, me and the band will be seeing you on New Year’s Eve at the Trump Marina in A.C. Should be a memorable night rocking once again with my old friend John Eddie. We’re gonna pull out all the stops and turn up all the knobs. Be there or be square. Also, in late January, I’ll be at the Tin Angel in downtown Philly. It’s been the city’s top acoustic room for a dozen years – c’mon out and see why. I’m also going to be opening for Steve Forbert at the Sellersville Theater. Steve is a real cool guy and a gentleman. I like doing gigs with Steve. I spent Thanksgiving in the British Virgin Islands with my family. It was a beautiful place with turquoise waters, white beaches, and beautiful brown bodies. I think all bodies are beautiful - fat ones, thin ones, old ones, young ones. I like to see people let it all hang out adrift in a tropical breeze. Swaying with the palms, eating and drinking, floating in the calm waters, incubating in the sun. We swam in the clear waters, our snorkels breaking the glassy surface, visitors in a world teaming with colors and life we rarely get to see. We swam deeper into sea caves and came up into caverns of darkness, then went back out again with the tides and schools of Sergeant Major, Yellowtail, Parrot Fish, and a myriad of neon bright species I could not identify. It was a peaceful world. I hated to leave. They did serve turkey dinner with cranberry sauce on the Big Day. Very British, you know. It was what I call the perfect Thanksgiving. We go to a different island every year unless my schedule forbids it. Speaking of thanks … I want to give mine to all the people who have come out to see me perform this past year. All of you who have bought my CDs and supported my music, and all the clubs, cafes, festivals and houses who have opened their doors to me and my fellow musicians. We couldn’t do it without you! Well that’s all for now Campers. Have a great holiday no matter how you celebrate it or what you believe. Snuggle up with somebody nice. Give them a gift. Make each other feel good. See you on the road. Love and Peace, - Robert Hazard Previous Newsletters:
